Soap & the City has been serving the Charlotte and Lake Norman area since 2020. What started as a solo owner-operator has grown into a full team dedicated to delivering exceptional exterior cleaning services across our region.

Our Team
Real people delivering real results
Production Manager
Nelson runs the show on the operations side. He handles technical customer inquiries during the quoting phase, manages scheduling and inventory, oversees quality assurance, and provides general oversight for all field work.
Lead Technician
Kaleb is our longest-tenured employee and has become a really skilled technician over the past few years. He delivers exterior cleaning and paver restoration services for both residential and commercial clients.
Assistant Technician
Corben has been with us for over a year and has learned the ins and outs of many services we offer. His primary responsibility is supporting the lead tech or production manager in whatever capacity is needed.
Virtual Customer Service Rep
Our AI voice agent handles calls when Nelson is unavailable. She can answer basic questions about our services, discuss general pricing, and take detailed notes for our team to follow up on.
Our Story
Soap & the City started in 2020 when Thomas visited his in-laws in Florida and learned about roof cleaning. He saw an opportunity to bring the same service back to Charlotte, where the humidity creates the same algae and mold problems he saw down south.
More than that, Thomas wanted to get back to his blue-collar roots after leaving his corporate job. There's something satisfying about doing real work for real people and seeing immediate results. No more meetings about meetings. Just showing up, doing the job right, and making people happy.
He quickly grew the business, adding house washing, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and window cleaning to build a full-service exterior cleaning company serving both residential and commercial customers across the Charlotte metro.
In 2023, Tyler joined to help expand the company further. Thomas and Tyler met at UNC Chapel Hill and stayed friends through their early corporate careers in Charlotte. After a stint in NYC in 2022, Tyler was also ready to get back to his blue-collar roots and deliver real services to real people.
Through 2023, Thomas and Tyler did most of the field work themselves before hiring their team of managers and technicians in 2024 and 2025. Today, Soap & the City is based in Cornelius and serves the entire Charlotte metro and Lake Norman region.
Always Learning
Exterior cleaning isn't complicated, but doing it well takes knowledge. Different surfaces need different approaches. A vinyl-sided ranch house doesn't get cleaned the same way as a stucco Mediterranean. Cedar shakes need a gentler touch than brick.
We send our team to manufacturer training sessions, industry conferences, and certification courses. When Trident came to Cornelius last year for a paver restoration workshop, our whole crew was there. When a new product comes out, we test it on our own properties before using it on yours.
This matters because mistakes are expensive. The wrong chemical on the wrong surface can cause permanent damage. We'd rather spend time learning the right way than explaining to a homeowner why their siding looks worse than when we started.
